This book is about survival — survival at the highest and most strategic level — spiritual survival. Given the current political atmosphere, it is not uncommon to understand an assault, personally or nationally, as a very real possibility. Terrorists’ threats and attacks are daily news items and a concern for all individuals. But, in addition to the tenuous world events, for followers of Messiah, there exists another imminent and foreboding danger on a minute to minute basis. It is the forces of the kingdom of darkness that are in battle against the believer. Defense against this danger is tantamount for our survival. The enemy of our souls wants to “take us out”, to remove us from our tour of duty on planet earth. His desire is to trip us up in any way possible so as to distract, disable and prevent us from completing God’s mission for us. The Word of God says that we are to be “sober minded and vigilant because our adversary, Satan walks about the earth like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (1st Pet.5:8). Clearly, he is a real and present danger. For the believer, life is not a playground; it is a battlefield!
